It was an okay visit. I hate the idea that Ms. Grzybowski gave me a hard time about the lorazepam that I take nightly. I know it's a controlled substance, but the combination of meds I'm on has taken literally years to get to here, where my anxiety and depression is well controlled and I get a full night's sleep. I'm very medication sensitive and this combination works for me. I had an inperson check up for the lorazepam over the summer and everyone in Mass. is content. Though Ms. Grzybowski did offer me an alternative, to have my PCP prescribe this medication for me, I'm still not sure she understood the importance of this medication. At this time I'm seriously considering finding another medical office for this issue.

Its always a pleasure talking with you. You make me feel at ease. A note I'd like to add. The Zoloft change I dont think is for me. Every night since my anxiety has increased, my mind was like a mouse on the wheel. That went into the morning waking up. It definitely made the anxiety worse.

Great experience as far as explaining what the center has to offer.

I was misled by the secretary who told me that while I may not be able to access the exact controlled substance I am currently prescribed, that I would be able to access one of the substances available. I was fine with this, because it would treat my anxiety and prevent withdrawals. Upon arrival, I was told that I would not be allowed to have a refill for this prescription. It was not taken into account that benzodiazepine withdrawals can lead to serious side effects, including grand mal seizures. In order to not waste the amount of time put into scheduling and getting to my appointment (which is 40 minutes away from where I live), I chose to continue the intake. Neither the psychiatrist nor her supervisor were helpful. Instead, they sent me away with an entirely different prescription that, based on what I have read, does not help with the withdrawals of benzodiazepines. Essentially, this practice sent me away without access to the medication I have been taking for years, despite the fact that I brought ALL necessary documents. They sent me off knowing fully that I would experience withdrawals. They did not provide a single referral to any other physician or practice in the area. They advised me to contact a community board or try to find a primary care provider. This practice pawns you off to other providers and refuses to provide you with prescriptions you need in order to avoid severe withdrawals. They were, at least, nice enough to do so in a professional manner. So, while I would like to give one star, I will give two stars.

My telehealth meeting with Lesley was very satisfying in that I felt my condition was respectfully understood and the questions posed were skillfully administered. I felt we landed in a good place commensurate with my needs and look forward to a full recovery.

Today was my first appointment with the practice, and I was absolutely satisfied with my evaluation. I was so impressed by Leslie’s thoroughness, knowledge and professionalism. She knew about the different medications that I have been prescribed, and she was knowledgeable about my diagnoses. She was also very upfront, and she asked the right questions. I felt very comfortable during the evaluation, and I felt like I was in a very safe place. This is very important to me. I also have to thank Alpha for her all of the excellent assistance that she provided in the initial intake process. She was very thorough with helping me complete the paperwork necessary for me to begin my treatment. She is truly a great asset to the practice, and her kindness and attentiveness to my needs were amazing. I am so appreciative for the outstanding service that Potomac Shores staff has provided me. As a new patient, I feel very hopeful about my future treatment with Potomac Shores. I made the decision to find a new treatment team because I was not getting the help that I needed. At the old place where I was being treated, I felt like I was just a number. In addition, my old doctor only offered medication management without therapy. Over the years, I have learned that I need both medication management and therapy. I am a firm believer that effective mental health treatment requires both medication management and therapy, in addition to other things. I was so thrilled to learn from Leslie that Potomac Shores believes that mental wellness requires both medication management and therapy. Therapy is something that I desperately need, and I have been unable to find a practice that provides both medication management and therapy. I even tried therapy online, but it didn’t meet my expectations. However, I just signed up to start my therapy sessions with Takisha, who is a Therapist at Potomac Shores. I am so excited about being able to begin my therapy sessions. I am even more delighted that I can get medication management AND therapy through Potomac Shores! So, to sum it up, Potomac Shores has made an outstanding impression on me. Even the office atmosphere is welcoming and very clean. I can tell that they take pride in the work that they do and that they care about their patients. I am so lucky to have found Potomac Shores! Now, I will be able to move forward in my mental health recovery.

This was my first interaction with this practice. I first spoke with Ms. Mary-Office Assistant, who was(for me) almost a first responder during a mental health crisis. She was extremely helpful and kind in guiding me through a difficult time and getting me setup with an appointment ASAP with Lesley, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My appointment with Lesley was a telehealth session which worked well for me. I found her to be calming and reassuring throughout the visit. This initial session was very detailed as she gathered pertinent information about my medical & mental health history. As we progressed through our session, I found her to be a knowledgeable and caring practitioner. I look forward our next check-in session because as a nurse practitioner she is able to assist in managing and/or prescribing medications to meet the patient's individual needs. In addition, it was good to know that the practice has other wellness resources such as a therapist. I definitely will be utilizing that resource. I feel Dr. Akua listens to what I have to say regarding the steps I am taking in my treatment. While I do see a counselor outside of Potomac Shores, she encourages me to meet with him regularly and also meet with my ENT and/or primary care doc to ensure other aspects of my health are handled correctly. I find this important as these parts are often overlooked when it comes to mental health and the well-being of the overall body.

Doctor Nola was so very easy to talk to. She answered my questions and elaborated on subject areas that I was concerned with. This is not just a practice to her. Nola was very professional and kind and felt relaxed and safe at her office. My appointment got canceled at first because I didn’t do the paperwork on time so make sure you do all the paperwork at least a day before.

Dr. Ayoola-Yussuf is very kind, empathetic, and intelligent. It shows through her work and how diligently she listens to patients’ concerns. She took the time to sit with me and walked through my medical history, and gave her input on medication suggestions and substitutions as well. She also asked for my feedback and my opinion on different medications, which I really appreciated. There was never any pressure and she ensured I felt comfortable with the treatment plan.

Dr. Amponsah Adjei genuinely shows interest in your mental health, she’ll ask questions about details you’ve shared with her, and will work over time trying to find a solution for you, whether it’s talking to your insurance, looking for better medications, you name it she’s working hard for you! Debora at the front desk, ALWAYS calls back immediately with solutions or updates on your appointments, results, etc. The staff treats you like family and they really embody the epitome of kindness and attentiveness.
